We have a last minute change of speaker here. Since Garrett Woodworth (aka @Gwoo) will have to be out of town next week, Matt Weghorst (@mattweg) will do a "Practical Git" talk instead.
For those of you who cannot attend in person, we will be streaming the talks live on Ustream.tv at http://bit.ly/dh7ymG...
We have two great talks scheduled this time:
1. Intro to PHP SPL: Iterators.
Presented by Peter Warnock
Pete Warnock (@pwarnock) is the lead developer at ConsumerTrack in El Segundo. He and his team built the app that powers GoFreeCredit.com – a site that has seen over 1.5 million visitors per month.
His latest project is GoMediaNetwork – a network of 2,000 personal finance websites with actively
monitored rates comparison tools.
SPL - Standard PHP Library SPL is a collection of interfaces and classes that are meant to solve standard problems and implements some efficient data access interfaces and classes. It has been increasingly used, especially since the new enhancements available in PHP 5.3. We will be focusing on one of the most useful part of it: Iterators. Read more on SPL here http://www.php.net/~h...
2. Practical Git. A simple intro to a powerful distributed version control system.
Presented by Matt Weghorst (@mattweg)
Developer turned Manager, Matt Weghorst (@mattweg), has been coding in PHP for the past 10 years. In his current role, he oversees marketing and development at ESN Interactive in Hollywood.
Using version control systems is important to manage code changes, maintain code quality, and collaborate with other developers. We will walk through the basics of Git, a distributed version control system. Git is growing in popularity as a fast and flexible alternative to other version control systems. Learn how to take advantage of the powerful features of Git to make your development smoother.

Our Venue Sponsor: CoLoft
Thanks to our friends at CoLoft, we have a great meeting space now. Our default location for the future meetups will be at CoLoft now. Our March meetup was the last one at the Panera Bread restaurant since we outgrew that place.
The CoLoft is a community driven space, offering developers, entrepreneurs, freelancers, writers, and other independent professionals, an inspiring place to work, network and prosper. It is located just one block away from the Santa Monica Public Library at 920 Santa Monica Blvd.
CoLoft is a great space suitable for big groups and formal presentations as well as informal networking.
Make sure to check out their website at http://coloft.com/......
The meetup opens at 7 PM for networking, the presentation will start at 7:30 PM to give people time to arrive comfortably. Most of our meetups will be mashup between LA PHP, LA MySQL, LA LAMP and LA Semantic Web groups -- all members are welcome here.
Admission is free, pizza and drinks will be served.
Here are the slides from my talk on git. http://slidesha.re/9sboZ1
