Agile not by the book. Why I don't scrum, and what do I do instead.
Presented by Christophe Louvion.
We will continue to foray into the general topics of tools, methods and frameworks for building our projects.
Last time we were talking about version control, why SHOULD we and how we CAN do it with Git. Now we will discuss the overall organization of our development process. We invited Christophe Louvion, the CTO of the CityGrid Media (aka Citysearch) to share his experience and various practical insights on the agile software development.
About presenter:
Christophe Louvion is the CTO at CityGrid Media (formerly Citysearch, LLC). He was previously the CTO at Gorilla Nation, online advertising; and VP of engineering at Shopzilla.com.
Christophe is a long time agilist, Certified Scrum Coach, and frequent speaker in agile, lean, and kanban conferences.
About Scrum
Scrum is an iterative, incremental framework for project management and agile software development. Read more on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.o...)
Like usual, for those of you who cannot attend in person, we will be streaming the talk live on Ustream.tv at http://bit.ly/dh7ymG...
The meetup opens at 7 PM for networking, the presentation will start at 7:30 PM to give people time to arrive comfortably.
At our meetings we are covering wide variety of topics, not necessarily limited strictly to core PHP. Most of our meetings are mashups between LA PHP, LA MySQL, LA LAMP and LA Semantic Web groups -- all members are welcome here.
After the main presentation, we will have one or two 10 - 15 minute blitz talks to present some of the projects created by our members.
Admission is free, snacks and drinks will be served.

As usual, please help us to spread the word. Invite you co-workers and friends who are in Web development, forward this link to you colleagues, tweet and blog about us.
When twitting and/or blogging, please use the #LAPHP tag so that we can track the messages.
Have anything interesting to present? Talk to the organizers, we are always looking for good presenters.
Are you doing your own project in PHP and what to show it to our members? Talk to us as well...
Many of our members are developing their own projects and we thought it would be a great idea to give them a short amount of time to proudly showcase their work. Starting from this meeting we will do a short 10 - 15 minute sessions presenting the work of our members to the general audience. This would help us all to know better what is happening in our community and (hopefully) open some interesting opportunities for collaboration.
Look forward to seeing you there soon.
Great presentation. Is it possible to get a copy of Christophe PPT?
