  • That's a good thought. To be honest, I haven't really thought that far ahead. The only hurdle I see with having some requirement for coding is that the group is also open to designers (as I too am primarily a UI/UX designer, front-side developing is secondary). I do like the idea of a portfolio requirement.

I'm already getting spam from recruiters and even non-technical people (i.e. business owners, project managers) joining the group. They'll just be outright disallowed.

  • Hey Dan. That's something I've been stewing over and haven't quite figured out yet. It might be something we can discuss at our first yet-to-be-announced meetup. Honestly, I'm kind of thinking/hoping that the process of "weeding" out the people with ulterior motives will happen just organically over time. I think everyone deserves a chance to at least be a part of it, but I think just like any place where developers work together, the slackers are pretty evident, pretty quickly.

  • Good to see you joining Dan. Anytime you got a topic to speak on, just drop me a note. Also for the performance group which I run as well.
