    That's a good thought. To be honest, I haven't really thought that far ahead. The only hurdle I see with having some requirement for coding is that the group is also open to designers (as I too am primarily a UI/UX designer, front-side developing is secondary). I do like the idea of a portfolio requirement.

    I'm already getting spam from recruiters and even non-technical people (i.e. business owners, project managers) joining the group. They'll just be outright disallowed.

    Hey Dan. That's something I've been stewing over and haven't quite figured out yet. It might be something we can discuss at our first yet-to-be-announced meetup. Honestly, I'm kind of thinking/hoping that the process of "weeding" out the people with ulterior motives will happen just organically over time. I think everyone deserves a chance to at least be a part of it, but I think just like any place where developers work together, the slackers are pretty evident, pretty quickly.
