Role
Xfire is seeking an experienced, motivated, well-rounded lead platform engineer with advanced expertise in developing backend applications in a LAMP environment. The Lead Platform Engineer develops technical solutions to support the company’s skill gaming platform products.
This position will work closely with the executive team and other members of the engineering team to offer concrete solutions and feature sets that directly impact business results. The ideal candidate will possess a thirst for innovation and be expected to be at the forefront of new technological developments that will help improve the overall results for both the technology organization as well as the company as a whole. Specific Duties:
• Contribute to key architectural decisions and collaborate with the executive team and other members of the engineering team to design complete solutions.
• Generate development plans, schedules and estimates
• Design, code, test and document your development projects
• Collaborate with clients and internal teams to understand and document software requirements
• Plan, coordinate, and execute release plans, unit testing and QA

Minimum Requirements:

• Minimum five (5) years experience with technologies detailed below:
o Application development on a LAMP stack
o PHP programming with heavy SQL database access & manipulation
o SQL database design including Stored Procedures
o HTML, XML, CSS and JavaScript programming
o Routine LAMP system administration functions

• Bachelors or higher in CS/EE or related technical field
• At least five (5) years of experience building back end applications and designing/exposing web services via an API
• Strong systems analysis and systems design skills.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Strong project management skills, with proven track record of delivering projects on time, on budget and on spec.

Desirable Experience:

• Oracle
• Flash /ActionScript/ Flex (Experience with Flash Media Server / Red 5 is a plus)
• Linux system administration
• Previous work in the videogame industry
• Experience with developing against social network APIs such as Facebook, Twitter
• Enthusiasm about videogames

The position is in the west side of Los Angeles. Only local candidates will be considered. Must be eligible to work in the United States.
